22 June 2018
On Monday, we sent a team to the rounder’s tournament at Charlton School. We were put in a tough group and lost to the eventual winners St Peter’s and St Paul’s in our first match, it only got better from there. The next four games we improved massively and only lost by a rounder or a half, which was fantastic considering rounder’s club has only been running for two weeks. With the group games over without a win, we were lucky enough to organise a couple of friendlies with schools from the other groups. With our confidence rising through the day, it was great to see a couple of wins. A great day out, well done to all involved.
On Tuesday, pupils from Year 3 and 4 spent the afternoon at Telford Tennis Centre. They enjoyed a range of different sports and activities, which were put together by sport leaders. All children participated fantastically.
We are coming towards the end of the year, with a few football competitions coming up, please could you have a check if any of the sports kit your child may have borrowed over the year is still at home, and return it to school. We have received another donation of football boots this week, which will give more children an opportunity to participate in school sport. If there is any spare/old boots that are not being used, please send them in. Thank you!
A reminder that next week, Friday 29 June, is the final week for John Muir and there will be a presentation at 2pm at school which parents are invited to attend. Thank you to those that have already paid but please can we ask for all outstanding monies to be paid by this date.
Year 4 Bible Presentation
This took place on Wednesday at St Michael’s Church. As always, this was a very informative service with the children learning many facts associated with the Bible. Thank you to those who were able to attend and support the children.
Thank you to everyone who donated a bottle on Monday in readiness for today’s Summer Fair. The stalls were full to bursting and hopefully a good sum of money will be raised for the new tablets for use in the classrooms.
Year 1 Visit
A fabulous visit to Wythall Transport Museum was enjoyed by Year 1 children this week. They thoroughly enjoyed learning about vehicles from times gone by and especially liked the rides they had around the lanes on an old fashioned bus.
Year 6 Revision Books
A reminder that all revision books are due to be handed back by the end of next week. If you have not already done so, please could you ensure that these are sent in with the children so that they can returned to their class teacher or one of the teaching assistants in Year 6.
Times Tables Rockstars
Across the school, children are continuing to ‘rock around the clock’ as they work on improving their times tables knowledge. Individual and class heatmaps are turning green and there are many children taking great pride in improving on their previous rock status. The staff continue to be amazed at how fast some children can type, let alone recall their multiplication facts! Have a look below, could you match our Rock Heroes’ times?
Over the last few weeks, several more children have now reached the heady heights of ‘Rock Legends’, making thirty-three in total across Years 4 to 6.
Next week is due to be hot, so please ensure your child comes to school with a hat and a water bottle. Sun cream may be brought to school, but it must be named, not shared with other children (in case of allergies) and applied by the children themselves.
This week’s winners of the attendance awards are as follows:
