Primary School

29 June 2018

Dear Parents

Forest School
If you have any ‘old’ kitchen equipment/utensils ie pots, pans, jugs (not glass), spoons, whisks please would you consider donating them to Forest School. Other useful items would be old white sheets, pallets and tyres.  Over the 2 years this has been running in school, stocks have depleted.  Thank you.

John Muir
Thank you to those that have already paid but please can we ask for all outstanding monies to be paid by Friday 13 July.  There is currently £100 still owed from 5L and £230 still owed from 5RD.
This afternoon we had a fantastic presentation done by the children for the parents which showcased the kind of work they have done and the knowledge they have acquired. Thank you to all those able to attend.

Summer Fair
The fabulous total of £1461 was raised. This is a tremendous effort and I should like to thank all those who helped run a stall this year. It would be lovely to be able to run lots of different stalls in the future to provide more entertainment for the children (and adults). We can only do this if more people volunteer, so if you are able to, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all again for your support.

Year 6 Revision Books
A reminder that all revision books were due to be handed back by today.  If you have not already done so, please could you ensure that these are sent in with the children so that they can be returned to their class teacher or one of the teaching assistants in Year 6.

Over the last two weeks, we have had many proud winners of our ‘Oscars’.  RG followed by 2Y were the winners of the EYFS/KS1 trophy whilst 6CW have retained the KS2 trophy both weeks.   Our certificate totals now stand at 70 Gold, 378 Silver and 2027 Bronze.  A last reminder- this year’s Mathletics Summer Competition is coming to a close on Sunday.  Children, you’ve got a couple of days to contribute your scores to the school’s total!

Head Lice
We have had a number of cases of head lice recently.  Please can all children be checked and treated as necessary.  If head lice( or eggs) are found children need to be treated and they can then return to school.

Weather Update
If the weather continues to be hot next week, please ensure your child continues to come to school with a hat and a water bottle. Sun cream may be brought to school, but it must be named, not shared with other children (in case of allergies) and applied by the children themselves.
Please also ensure that correct uniform is worn. Thank you.

Times Tables Rockstars
Have a look below, could you match our Rock Heroes’ times?

 Rockstars table.jpg 290618
We now have 36 Rock Legends who have all reached speeds of less than 2 seconds per question and 21 Rock Stars who have dipped under the 3 second barrier.  Keep it up!

Meadows Football Tournament
On Monday we sent our Year 3/4 boys football team to Meadows Primary school for a summer football tournament. For a very hot day, the boys played some of the best football of the year. The first game was against Meadows Primary and somehow we lost 2-0. The boys played really well and had a hatful of chances but couldn’t hit the back of the net. It was then followed by a great 3-0 win over Grange Park Primary and a 2-1 win over Hollinswood Primary. We finished 2nd overall. Well done to all who played and those who supported in the hot sun.
