29 September 2017
Obviously the week started with the calamity of the mains water leak in Telford which affected many properties. Although we needed to close the school on Monday, I am very pleased it was just for the one day. The most pleasing aspect was that the message about closure was given as soon as possible and shared by so many. Hopefully you found this useful and thank you for your help in ensuring the message was seen by nearly all. Facebook clearly has some advantages sometimes!
It is worth remembering that this will be the way of informing you of any emergency closures – our Facebook page, the school website and Telford and Wrekin’s school closure page (which links automatically to local radio stations).
Year 3/4 Girls Football Friendly
Last Friday, we had a visit from a well-trained Grange Park Team. This was a great opportunity to give some of our girls their first ever game and they did the school proud. A fantastic performance from our goalkeeper helped keep the score 0-0 at half time. The girls didn’t stop running and were close on a couple of occasions to scoring a goal, although two great counter attacks from Grange Park meant the game finished 2-0. Well done to all involved.
Year 5/6 Girls Football – Cluster League
On Tuesday our girls had a visit from a well-established Grange Park team. From the kick-off Grange Park were very organised and professional in their positions but this didn’t stop the hard work from our girls who closed down every pass, put in some brilliant tackles and made it very difficult for Grange Park to break them down. With the score being 3-0 at half time, a moment of hope was restored with a great, determined team goal shortly after the break. Sadly it was not to be – with some great experience and lessons learnt, the girls will dust themselves off for the final 4 fixtures in our league. Thank you for the great support.
This year, our Harvest Festival will take place in St Michael’s Church on Tuesday 10 October, starting at 10.00am. Y3/4 children will be leading the celebration but we would welcome parents/carers of any children to attend. Although it is only Y3/4 children taking part in school, we will be giving thanks for the Harvest in school and would like all children if possible to bring in a donation of non-perishable food items, either on Monday 9 October or by 9.00am on Tuesday 10 October. These will be taken to St. Michael’s who will donate them to Telford Food Bank.
In the third week of our Mathletics competition, the class trophies were won by 2B and 6CW. All of the classes this week had ‘Oscar’ winners; it was great to see the excitement of the first two Reception class recipients. Last weekend was obviously a busy weekend for some of our Mathletes. We had four entries onto the UK and World Halls of Fame; two of these were new entrants who were very keen and proud to receive their badges.
