Y6 Llandudno Visit
Last half term finished with Y6 visiting Llandudno. This is the fifth year we have run the long day visit which again was very successful. Having been aware that torrential downpours were forecast for many areas, we were very relieved to have a dry day up until the rain caught up with us mid-afternoon. Even this didn’t dampen our spirits as we enjoyed the many experiences this trip has to offer. Highlights were two trips on the Great Orme tramway, the tour around the Bronze Age copper mines including underground tunnels and caverns, the magnificent 360º view from the top of the Great Orme and, of course, the ice cream and chips by the sea. A great day out for all.
Please note that the deadline for ordering class photographs is Friday 15 June. The ordered photographs should then be received before we finish for the Summer Holidays.
Year 4 Bible Presentation
The annual Bible Presentation for Year 4 will take place at St Michael’s Church on Wednesday 20 June at 11am. All parents are welcome to attend.
Year 1 Visit to Transport Museum
Please can consent forms for this visit be returned by Monday 11 June. At present 30 have not been returned. All children who have not returned forms have been given a second copy today.
Sports Day will take place next Friday (15 June). Your child should have brought home a letter about this today. Please note that any requests for a Sandwich Bar lunch provided by the school need to be ordered (and paid for if applicable) by Monday 11 June.
Earlier this week you should have received a flyer about our Open Day (click here). We hope to see as many of you as possible in school to share in a celebration of the children’s work exploring the last 50 years.
Due to the half-term holiday, last week the trophies were in some cases shared. The class trophies were won by 6CW (both weeks) and 2Y followed by 1H. Alongside these our individual ‘Maths Magician’ owls were as usual awarded to the child(ren) in each class with the highest weekly points totals. It was great to see the delight on faces as a number of children won ‘Oscar’ for the first time.
A further 4 Gold certificates have been achieved this fortnight building the year’s already record-breaking total. The current position is 1934 Bronze, 365 Silver and 59 Gold certificates.
This is to take place on Friday 22 June. A letter giving more details will come home on Monday. Please do all you can to support this event. All profits go towards improving provisions and resources for the children in school.
A reminder that the second instalment of £40 is due on Monday 11 June for the Y6 Residential Visit in November 2018. Thank you to those who have already paid.
Times Tables Rockstars
Our rockstars have continued to impress over the fortnight. During this time, three more children have reached the heady heights of ‘Rock Legends’, making twenty-nine in total across Year 4-6. Once again, our Rock Heroes, ‘Taylor Phoenix’ (Y5) and ‘Jeff Culture’ (Y6) have continued to jockey for the top position on the school leaderboard. At the time of writing, ‘Taylor’ is in the lead with an amazing speed of 0.62 seconds per question, closely followed by ‘Jeff’ on 0.70 seconds per question. They have now been joined by a new Rock Hero, ‘Rip Lightspeed’ (Y6), who is in third place on 1.00 seconds per question whilst ‘Sinkane Xhan’ (Y6) now has a speed of 1.05 seconds per question. Current class leaders are:
