Year 4

Welcome to Year 4

Year 4 Swimming

Tomorrow is our First swimming lesson.

  • 4C leave school at 9:10am, please ensure your child is at school on time.
  • PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL WEARING THEIR COSTUME/TRUNKS/SHORTS UNDER THEIR PE KIT.
  • Please ensure that your child’s costume is suitable for school swimming lessons. A one piece costume for girls or a practical two piece costume.  Boys need to ensure that any swimming shorts are not too long (above the knee please).
  • DO NOT FORGET TO PACK UNDERWEAR INTO YOUR CHILD’S SWIMMING BAG.
  • A comb will help your child get more water from their hair than drying alone.
  • For pupils with long hair, a second towel that can be worn for the journey back to school is also useful.
  • Having a warm hat for playtimes helps.
  • No other Leisure Centre users have access to the changing facilities during our time at the pool so money for a locker is not needed.
  • Discuss being safe with your child.  They are to change sensibly without disturbing others.  They are not allowed to run.  They must not jump into the water unless instructed to do so by the adult in charge.  They must respect other swimmers in the water by refraining from splashing, dunking, pushing.  If they do not keep themselves and others safe, they will be asked to sit out of the water.

This week, we will be assessing your child’s water confidence and swimming ability.  Thank you for the information on reply slips.  By the end of the session, we want to ensure that all children can safely lower themselves into and raise themselves out of the pool.  We also want them to be able to move through the water with confidence.  The depth of the water can be altered and it will be no more than 1m deep tomorrow.
