Welcome to Year 4

Children in Need 17.11.23

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As you may already know, this week is this year’s BBC Children in Need Appeal Week. John Fletcher of Madeley Primary School is excited to be joining with many others around the UK to help raise awareness.

Children are welcome to come to school on Friday 17th November in their own clothes.

Due to the cost-of-living crisis, parents are not expected to contribute but if you would like to donate, you can do so here;

Donate using the ‘70701’ shortcode (Campaign dates: 31st Oct 2023 to 30th Nov 2024) –

Text the word ‘FIVE’ to 70701 to donate £5

Text the word ‘TEN’ to 70701 to donate £10

If children have PE on Friday (Y3 and Year 1) they will need to wear sensible footwear.

For further information please see https://www.bbcchildreninneed.co.uk/donate/

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards

Miss E Harrison

Year 4 News, 15.09.2023

This week we have been exploring the topic of Ancient Greece in more detail. In RE, we have begun to learn more about creation and will be comparing creation in Christianity and Judaism. In English, we have concluded our short unit of work about Medusa by writing in response to pictures of Perseus and Medusa in the cave.

In Science, we have discovered ways to demonstrate that sound is caused by vibration of air around moving objects, which led to some fascinating experiments…

In Maths, we have continued to build our understanding of place value, working confidently with numbers up to 10,000. To explore the digital tools available to help your child understand the models that we use in lesson time, please click the link below and use the following three words to log in:

Next week, we have PE on Monday and Friday – this is now going to happen every week. Jewellery, such as necklaces, earrings or watches should not be worn. In addition, we will be starting our exciting new string tuition on Tuesday mornings! Lots to enjoy and explore!

Have a great weekend!

Miss Brotherton
