The Year 6 Team and SENDCO work closely with our feeder Secondary schools to support our Year 6 children with their secondary transition. Staff complete handover meetings with the Heads of Year 7 and SENDCOs and organise enhanced transition opportunities for identified children.
We use the STEP guidance from the Telford and Wrekin SEND website to support all our children with their transition, particularly children with additional needs.
In our PSHE and RSE lessons children spend time finding out about their new school and the opportunities they will be able to enjoy. Our enhanced Keeping Safe work and partnership with Crucial Crew further supports their understanding of peer pressure, friendships and signposting support as they get ready to move on in their educational journey.
