Children in Need 17.11.23

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As you may already know, this week is this year’s BBC Children in Need Appeal Week. John Fletcher of Madeley Primary School is excited to be joining with many others around the UK to help raise awareness.

Children are welcome to come to school on Friday 17th November in their own clothes.

Due to the cost-of-living crisis, parents are not expected to contribute but if you would like to donate, you can do so here;

Donate using the ‘70701’ shortcode (Campaign dates: 31st Oct 2023 to 30th Nov 2024) –

Text the word ‘FIVE’ to 70701 to donate £5

Text the word ‘TEN’ to 70701 to donate £10

If children have PE on Friday (Y3 and Year 1) they will need to wear sensible footwear.

For further information please see https://www.bbcchildreninneed.co.uk/donate/

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards

Miss E Harrison

Harvest

I wanted to say a huge thankyou to our families for all of their kind donations towards our Harvest collections this year. Your generosity will go on to help so many families in our community.
A big big thankyou to my brilliant helpers who did a fantastic job of organising and packing away the donations ready to be collected.

2023/2024 Nasal Influenza Immunisation (Flu Spray)

Your child’s annual 2023/2024 LAIV Nasal Influenza Immunisation (Flu Spray) is now due. All children in school should have come home with consent forms earlier this week. If you have not received one, please come and see me (Miss Harrison) in the office.

All Primary school-aged children, including children in Specialist Schools, in Reception Year to Year 6 (aged 4 to 10 years old on 31st August 2023) will be offered the vaccine.

This vaccination programme is in place to help protect your child against flu. Flu can be an unpleasant illness and sometimes causes serious complications. Vaccinating your child will also help protect more vulnerable friends and family by preventing flu from spreading. The vaccination is free and recommended for young children and will be given by a quick and simple spray up the nose.
If your child becomes wheezy or has their asthma medication increased after you return the consent form handed out earlier in the week, please contact the Immunisation Team via school on the day.

If you decide you do not want to vaccinate your child against flu,  please return the form indicating no consent.

Thankyou ☺️ 😊

To ensure that the food bank receives a wide variety of items pleased could you try to send a donation in line with each child’s year group on the table below. However, all donations are gratefully received and will provide much needed help to the most vulnerable people in our local community.

Year 1 / 2 Tinned goods (beans, spaghetti, soup, tuna, fruit, veg, rice pudding, custard)
Year 3 Jams, spreads, long life puddings, UHT milk, squash or cordial

Please begin sending in your donations from tomorrow so that the children can experience the magic of watching the food store grow over the course of the following week. We are aware that everyone needs a little help from time to time and therefore all parents are invited to view our harvest donations on Friday 6th October at 3:30pm in the South Hall where you may use this as an opportunity to take whatever is needed to make things a little easier during our current times where we’re all feeling the pinch. Any surplus will be sent to our local foodbank.

We are very lucky to have such supportive families and we know that you will donate as much as you can within our current financial climate to this very important cause.
