KS1 Christmas Performances

You are now able to book your place to watch the KS1 Christmas Performance via ParentPay. There will be two performances. One at 10am and one at 2pm. As always, places are limited to two per family in total. This is due to health and safety restrictions of our school hall. There will be no cost involved, but you must book your place via ParentPay. Only 2 tickets will be issued for each performance, so please mention the number you require via ParentPay. We will not be issuing paper tickets this year, as we will create a register of who is attending.
We are sorry, but due to the constrictions of our school hall, we are unable to accommodate non-school children to watch the performances, even sitting on knees.
As you can imagine the children are already very excited and the performance will be an excellent opportunity to make some lovely memories. We look forward to seeing you!
(As a side note, we are finalising dates for our KS2 Performances. As soon as I am able to, I will let you know more details!)

Our week in Reception – 24.11.2023

Reception have had a wonderful week this week, learning all about nocturnal animals. In Forest School we looked for signs of these animals, such as a patter of foot prints.

Mrs T made a very welcomed visit on Monday morning for our music and songs of praise session. We have also started to practice our songs for the nativity and are feeling more confident each day.

In maths we have been learning about one more and one less than a number, using songs and rhymes to help us spot the pattern and value. The children are now able to recall one more and one less than a number at speed!

Home reading and homework

Maths homework this week is to practice your number formation. Phonics homework this week is to practice reading the paper ditty and books that have been sent home.

Please find the nativity song sound clips on our class page. Your child has been sent home with lyrics to help them practice.

Donate using the ‘70701’ shortcode (Campaign dates: 31st Oct 2023 to 30th Nov 2024) –

Text the word ‘FIVE’ to 70701 to donate £5

Text the word ‘TEN’ to 70701 to donate £10

If children have PE on Friday (Y3 and Year 1) they will need to wear sensible footwear.

For further information please see https://www.bbcchildreninneed.co.uk/donate/

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards

Miss E Harrison

Our week in Reception – 10.11.2023

Reception have had a wonderful first week back. This half term we are learning all about celebrations, festivals and traditions. At the beginning of the week we learnt about Guy Fawkes, Bonfire Night and how people celebrate this. We then discussed how to keep ourselves safe when watching fireworks and holding sparklers. After this we developed vocabulary to describe fireworks and created our own artwork.

Towards the end of the week we have been thinking about Remembrance Day. We learnt about why it is observed and the significance of poppies. We found out about how poppies have changed throughout time and the different materials that have been used to create them. We then used different materials to create our own poppies.

In maths we have been identifying and comparing triangles and circles. We then learnt about Wassily Kandinksy’s artwork before using similar techniques to create our own. After this we identified these shapes within the environment and developed our understanding of positional language.

Home reading and homework

Homework this week is to identify circles and triangles at home. With a helping hand can you create a sandwich and cut it into triangles?

Our week in Reception – 13.10.2023

Reception have had a lovely week this week. In maths we have been recognising, copying and continuing simple patterns. We have used natural objects, movement and manipulatives to help us.

In our topic based learning we have been thinking about how to look after ourselves. On Thursday we had a visit from a dental nurse who taught us all about oral health. We learnt about how many times per day we should brush our teeth and how long this should take. We thought about foods that are good for our teeth and foods that should be eaten in moderation.

We then thought of other ways to keep our bodies healthy, such as healthy eating and exercise. On Friday we discussed Mental Health and ways in which we can keep ourselves and our friends happy.
